Most people ask what the difference is between Dry Needling and Acupuncture?
Although both techniques use the same needles, Acupuncture is designed to relieve pain, discomfort and stress issues by opening up a person’s energy flow (or chi).
Dry Needling is a separate technique that uses acupuncture needles to deactivate the knotted and painful muscles (or trigger points) in your body.

Dry Needling is a separate technique that uses acupuncture needles to deactivate the knotted and painful muscles (or trigger points) in your body.
Dry Needling is undoubtedly one of the most effective ways to resolve a painful muscle trigger point. Dry Needling often involves advancing an acupuncture needle into the muscle in the region of a trigger point, aiming to reproduce the patient’s symptoms and achieve relief of muscle tension and pain. It is a commonly used technique and deactivates trigger points very successfully.
Dry Needling is particularly useful in relieving muscle pain, improving flexibility and increasing your range of motion.
Dry Needling is regularly used to treat sports injuries, muscle pain and even fibromyalgia pain.
In many cases, improved mobility is immediate and decreased pain is felt within 24 hours. Typically, it may take a few treatment sessions (once a week for 2-3 weeks) to achieve a lasting positive effect.
Does it hurt? – The good news is – No – it doesn’t hurt. Our thin needles are never inserted deep into the muscle or tendon.
Dry Needling may cause a slight discomfort when the needles are being inserted into sensitive areas – but there’s no actual pain involved. It goes without saying that we use only sterile and disposable needles.
Dry Needling is also offered free of charge as part of your sport’s injury treatment. It is important to us that you receive everything you need for a speedy recovery without incurring extra costs.
